Benefits

Since 1985, when the first bridge in Japan was built using the bi-prestressing construction method (or bi-pre method for short), 747 bridges have been completed using it.
The bi-prestressing construction method is a world-class Japanese PC application technology that applies our proprietary post-compression fixation system.
In recent years, a wide variety of performance requirements have been placed on bridge structures, and the bi-prestressing construction method is capable of meeting the most demanding of these requirements: girder-height restrictions.

Benefits

Digit height can be reduced.

In the case of road bridges, the girder height/effective span ratio of bi-prestressing system simple girders is about 1/32, which allows for very low girder heights. Digit weight can be reduced.

Conventional-method PC girder

Precast girders reduce the weight per girder and can be erected more safely.

The effective span distance can be increased.

The effective span distance can be increased with the same girder height.
For continuous viaducts with different effective spans, the same girder cross-section can be used to shape the side profile.

Number of digits can be reduced.

Even when conventional-method PC girders are used and the compressive stress slightly exceeds the allowable value and the girder height cannot be changed, this can be handled without increasing the number of girders.

Allows for greater freedom in design

By controlling compressive and tensile prestress, structural forms and cross-sections can be selected without being bound by conventional structural concepts, taking into consideration ease of construction, economy, and aesthetics.

Can be applied to reinforcement of existing structures.

In cases where the compression cross-section of an existing structure is insufficient, it can be reinforced without significantly altering the structure.
